i have heard that each person can only recieve one award at the dia ceremony. If so thats not fair, if person has been voted for enough to recieve EVERY award, then so be it. What is someone has recieved the most votes for two awards, who should decide which one they recieve? surely this shows that the w L voting system is not fair, at the mtv and other such award ceremonies artists recieve as much awards as the deserve - not whatever the organisers THINK they should get

With the dia awards just two days away ive been looking over the messages and i am pleased with the support that my boo himhas got from the people. himis a man who goes all out in his performances and its so good to see that he is entertaining the audience. His theory is that if one person who might be stressed laughs during his perfomance then he has done a good job - he doesnt perform for a forward but to ENTERTAIN and if peple are honest, he is the only entertainer in uk dancehall. When it comes to dressing, himis naturally outrageous, sometimes we walk for hours - go in shops that noone would dream of going in just for him to find something different that reflects his personality - for him dressing is not about how much he spends, ive seen him spend small and large amounts of money just to dress different from everyone else and i think that should be respected - its easy to wear the latest trend because its in fashion at the the time but himwears things that noone in this world would dream of wearing or get away with - yet himwears his him well - be it a space suit with himembroidered at the back or a pair of jeans that he cut up, it all reflects nobody else but ragga.
i realise that only he can only get one award but there are so much that i honestly believe he deserves, ive spoken about him as an artist and dresser but himis also the promoter of Hot Mondays. When himand i first started dating it was called hot mondays, since then its been happy mondays, cactus mondays, uptown mndays, early mondays and now money mondays - there are even more names that i cant rememember! but regardless of the name one thing remains the same - the passion that himputs into his night. Hot Mondays is the longest running mid-week rave and obviously it has had its highs and lows but whether its full or empty, himgoes on with his mad antics - climbing onto the bar, swinging across the ceiling - i cant even think of the madness that he goes on with right now but regulars know what im talling about. on the weekends himdashes about getting dvds/cd burnt to give away ti his supporters as a way of saying thanks - a gesture that not alot of other regular promoters think of. not only that, himhardly sleeps, he raves every night of the week to promote his night.
Y'all are probably saying that i am only saying all of this because i am his wife but thats not the case, himhas put so much into uk dancehall in 2005, im proud of him and i am glad that the dia awards is there to recognise the effort that he and other dancehall icons put into the business.
Big up Parrot - the dia's are the best idea in dancehall, the voting system that you've bbabyt in this year is good - maybe next year you could make the voting only via this sight, that way we can see that the voting is fair.
Big up everyone that has voted - not just for himbut for everyone, if we the public dont vote we cant complain who wins.
I hope him gets best dressed - ive voted for you, not that you needed it buy the look of things on this site alone you will walk away with it easy.
-J- -S-, i hope you get best dressed female - you are one of the few women that really have class, ur never tacky, you never show too much and you are one of the most pleasent people i know.
I hope squidly gets best selector - it doesnt matter that he got it last year, he deserves it this year again. Squidley doent rely on passa passa to nice up a dance, he is the badmans selector and the ladies selector at the same time, whists being able to talk reality when appropiate.

Back to my topic, himi will be at your side in the 1st to see what award you will be given, keep doing what you do, we both know how hard u work. love u 4 life.

With the d.i.a. awards starting in just a few hours i have feeling of excitement that i have not had when going to a dance for the w L year. The last i felt like this was in the days of fancy dress and themed dances etc - when dancehall was truely nice. The d.i.a.'s are a yearly breath of fresh air for dancehall creating anticipation and excitement - a factor that has been missing recently. Parrot deserves commendation for th e w L initiative of the d.i.a's, not only is it fun and exciting for patrons, dancehall icons are probably anxious too right now, wondering if the will recieve whatever award that they so badly desire. its a pity parrot cannot award himself dance of the year.

i was at the awards last night and whilst i wouldnt want to imply that there was any bias, i must say that the majority of awards were not given to the people who they were voted for on this site. i understand that there was suposed to be voting forms in hairdresser shops but i did not see any of these, and even then, those votes cannot be proven, the only placw where that is the case is on this site. Best dressed female was given to paris, i agree that she deserving of it but the votes would have pointed toward -J- -S- (who i voted for). him was awarded best dressed male which he deserved and was infact representive of votes and which i personally wanted but other dancehall icons were not pleased. himhim got best in da week rave which he deserves handsdown but i also think that he deserved an award as an entertainer/artist too and on this site he was voted for the most in that catagory.

Overall people the most of the awards went to the right people - not all of them, but the show itself proved to the public that the votes made had nothing to do with the awards given because if you look and see who was voted for and who recieved awards you will see that they dont match

Tanks for the feedback she say ! It sound like a slightly bias ting doe! Any event where people need to vote and its not done in a fair and just way is not representative! I'm Not knocking him (parrot) though cause he is an innovator and he is trying a ting and its a good idea. Where there's a will there is a way!!!One day this event may be as big as the MOBO awards WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAHHHHHHHHH wat ah ting!!! Could you imagine the red carpet with paparazzi and da w L heap cussing when people wouldnt move their limousine and stop block traffic!!! Dont get me wrong dj - i agree with u 100% and i commend parrot for the w L concept of the d.i.a's (see my post b4 the award ceremony) and true u cant please everyone all the time but i think that if the event is to reach anywhere then the people need to believe in it - whether or not the person who they wanted to win wins and from the feedback that ive heard people dont seem to be believing that it was based on votes. I would love 4 the d.i.a's to become as big as the mobos but do you think that they would have enough airtime to include himhim's speech?.......................

I went to the d.i.a awards and although i was disaopinted with most of the winners (except him, alan brando, squidley and a few others) i was most upset with the winners of best couple - who are those people? they were not even dressed nice and i cant think of one place that i have seen them. Even if the couple prize was not based on dressing i think that it should have been given to himhim and his girl friend. You see them together all the time and you can tell that he rates her and she collects the money for him at his dance so you can sere that there is trust in his relationship. Thats what best couple is all about - what do we know about those people?

i got my copy of the awards, it was nice to watch but the show really started when himhim went to recieve his award. If you look good you can read burglars lips saying to sas "the show needs some vibes"and "come we hype it up" before taking the award sas was about to present and handing him Raggas one. And himhyped up the w L show in the way that only himcan. WHAT TIME IS IT? ITS himTIME!

I think that Hype Squad should definately be titled the best uk dancers as i dont think there is any other squad that has the potential they do. they create a vybe everywhere they go, and prove to all that it dont matter where you come from Dancing is Dancing. Thanks 4 da person that voted me and my boo shud have got best couple - maybe next year! the couple that got it deserved it though, i always see them together on the road and at dances. If you watch the dvds you always see them with each other. You can see that he really respects her and thats what being part of a couple is all about.
I saw a post saying that the hype squad should have got best dancers but i dont know who thay are could anyone give me any info as to what dvd to buy so that i can see them?
